The Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan met during his visit to Qatar, with Sheikh Khalifa Bin Jassem Al Thani, the President of Qatar Chamber of Commerce in the presence of Mohamed bin Ahmed bin Twar the First Vice-President. During the meeting, they discussed means of enhancing trade cooperation relations between the two countries Qatar and Pakistan, and the possibility of establishing joint ventures, especially in the industrial and food sectors.
Khan pointed to the depth of the relations between Pakistan and Qatar, stressing on Islamabad's keenness to strengthen relations of cooperation with Doha in various fields.
For his part, Sheikh Khalifa Al-Thani pointed to the growth of the Qatari-Pakistani joint companies number operating in the operating in various economic sectors of the Qatari market, which reached about 1250 companies by the end of 2018, in addition to the presence of a large Pakistani community working and contributing to the renaissance witnessed by the country.
He also pointed out that the trade exchange between Qatar and Pakistan increased by 100% in 2017, reaching about 1.6 billion dollars compared to 782 million dollars in 2016. The trade exchange continued to increase in 2018, to reach during the first nine months of the year, $1.8 billion, with an increase rate of 12.5% over 2017, reflecting the development of trade relations between the two countries.
