Remittances from Jordanians living abroad declined by 1.4 percent during the first nine months of 2018.
According to the data issued by the Central Bank of Jordan, the value of remittances from Jordanian working abroad, accounted for JOD 1.95 billion (2.75 billion of dollars) until the end of September. While the growth of remittances was estimated at 4 percent throughout the year. Moreover, nearly 80 percent of Jordanian expats are in the Gulf Countries, while 11 percent are in the United States and Canada, 4.3 percent in Europe and about 3 percent in the rest of the Arab world.
Remittances from Jordanians working abroad are the main contributors to the country’s GDP among foreign currencies, along with the value of exports of goods and services, grants, loans and foreign aid. Expats Remittances in Jordan accounted for 3.7 billion of dollars over the past year, according to the Central Bank of Jordan.
