Saudi Arabia has made progress in the 2018’s Global Competitiveness Report issued by the World Economic Forum, ranking 39th out of 140 countries, which is the best improvement in the ranking since 2012.
Majid Al Qasabi, Saudi Arabia's Minister of Trade and Investment said that "the integrated work of more than 40 government agencies is one of the most important factors that led to the improvement of the Kingdom's ranking in the 2018 Country Competitiveness Report," pointing out that unifying the efforts has effectively led to solving the obstacles and challenges and to support the private sector in the Kingdom during the previous stage," pointing out "the importance of reforms implemented by government agencies in all indicators of measuring the performance of the Kingdom in the Global Competitiveness Report."
He said: "The progress of Saudi Arabia Kingdom ranking despite the change in the World Economic Forum methodology and increase the number of countries to 140 countries, as this change affected the order of many countries of the world, including Saudi Arabia. The Forum depended in its new methodology on 98 indicators to measure the competitiveness of countries for 2018, of which 64 indicators were recently developed, while the previous methodology was based on 114 indicators.
