Unemployment in Morocco Records 13.1 Percent

The High Commission for Planning in Morocco revealed in its labor market report that the unemployment rate reached 13.1 percent in the third quarter of this year, compared to 13.6 percent in the same period last year.

According to the Commission, the number of unemployed people decreased by approximately 55,000, falling from 1.68 million to 1.62 million. The unemployment rate in urban areas recorded 16.3 percent, and 6.9 percent in rural areas, while unemployment among women increased to 21.6 percent and decreased among men to 10.6 percent. Youth unemployment for those aged between 15 and 24 remained high despite a decline from 39.5 percent to 38.4 percent. It also remained concerning among degree holders, dropping from 19.8 percent to 19 percent.
