The National Institute of Statistics in Tunisia revealed that annual inflation fell to 5.3 percent in July, compared to 5.4 percent in June.

The Central Bank of Tunisia had lowered the main interest rate by 50 basis points to 7.5 percent in March, after reducing it in March for the first time in five years.

The government expects the average inflation rate to reach 6.2 percent this year, down from 7 percent in 2024. Tunisia’s trade deficit widened to $3.46 billion in the first half of 2025, up from $2.79 billion the previous year. This contributed to an increase in the current account deficit to 1.9 percent of GDP, up from 1.2 percent the previous year.
