US economic growth rebounded in the second quarter of 2025, following its first contraction in three years at the start of 2025.

According to preliminary estimates released by the Bureau of Economic Analysis, gross domestic product (GDP) grew at an annual rate of 3 percent during the second quarter. This rebound comes after a significant increase in imports, prior to the implementation of President Donald Trump's tariffs, led to a 0.5 percent contraction in GDP during the first quarter. The GDP data covers the period from April to June, reflecting economic activity during the first three months of the broader implementation of Trump's tariffs.
