U.S. President Donald Trump issued letters to six countries announcing an increase in tariff rates by between 25% and 30%, effective August 1, 2025.
Trump informed Algeria, Libya, and Iraq that a 30% tariff will be applied to their exports to the United States. Meanwhile, Brunei, Moldova, and the Philippines received notices of 25% tariffs.
President Trump has begun notifying trade partners—from major suppliers like Japan and South Korea to smaller economies—that high U.S. tariffs will take effect on August 1, marking a new phase in the trade war he initiated earlier this year.
