IMF Urges Syria to Follow Sound Economic Policies

The International Monetary Fund revealed that the Syrian authorities are keen to restore economic growth and intend to pursue sound economic policies.

The IMF mission to Syria discussed adopting a budget for the remainder of 2025 and identifying available resources. It also discussed rebuilding confidence in banks and reconnecting with the international financial system.

After concluding its visit to Syria, headed by Ron van Rooden, to assess economic and financial conditions, the IMF stated that Syria faces enormous challenges after years of conflict that have caused immense human suffering and reduced its economy to a fraction of its previous size. The IMF noted that the Syrian authorities are keen to restore economic growth and improve people's living standards and intend to pursue sound economic policies.
