The Director of the Middle East and Central Asia Department at the International Monetary Fund, Dr. Jihad Azour, revealed that a mission from the Fund is heading to Syria, with the aim of closely assessing the financial and economic conditions.

"The mission will be briefed on the reality of Syrian institutions in order to identify their needs and the required technical support, with the aim of developing a comprehensive cooperation framework that identifies priorities to provide technical advice and training of key cadres," Azour said.

He explained that the conflicts in Gaza, the West Bank, Lebanon and Syria have led to severe economic shocks and negatively affected the GDP of those countries. He considered that the region faces higher risks compared to others, which led to significant volatility in the markets after the announcement of tariffs.
