Oil prices rose in early Asian trading on Monday, following US President Donald Trump's decision to extend trade negotiations with the European Union, which helped calm fears of possible US tariffs that negatively affect the global economy and fuel demand. Brent crude futures rose 37 cents, or 0.6 percent, to $65.15 a barrel. U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude rose 34 cents, or 0.6 percent, to $61.87 a barrel.
President Donald Trump announced his agreement to extend the deadline for trade negotiations with the EU until July 9 after European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen stressed that the bloc needed more time to reach an agreement.
