Khalil Haj Tawfik meets with Egyptian Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Hassan Khatib: The need to remove restrictions and elevate relations to the level of strategic partnership

The President of the Jordan Chamber of Commerce, Al-Ain Khalil Haj Tawfiq, discussed with His Excellency the Egyptian Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, Engineer Hassan Al-Khatib, on the sidelines of the twenty-eighth Arab-German Economic Forum, which was held in the German capital Berlin on 20/21-5-2025, and in the presence of the Secretary-General of the Union of Arab Chambers, Dr. Khaled Hanafi, and the Vice President of the General Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce, Muhammad Al-Masri, on ways to enhance economic, trade and investment relations between Jordan and Egypt and raise them to the level of partnership, in light of what the two countries enjoy of great potential and strong and well-established historical relations.

President Khalil Haj Tawfik affirmed the desire of the commercial sector to develop its bilateral relations with his Egyptian counterpart to levels reflected in the two countries' trade exchanges. Stressing the need to remove any restrictions that hinder the movement of goods in both directions.

He stressed the need to implement the directives of the leaderships of the two countries, represented by His Excellency the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, and King Abdullah II of Jordan, to enhance economic cooperation between the two countries.

He pointed out that the Jordan Chamber of Commerce will coordinate with the General Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce to hold a meeting that brings together the business community in the two countries, suggesting that it be at the earliest opportunity. He also stressed the need to activate the meetings of the Jordanian-Egyptian Joint Committee to enhance trade and investment relations for the benefit of the two countries.

The President of the Jordan Chamber of Commerce stressed the need to strengthen joint Arab action in all sectors, the most important of which is the commercial and economic sector. He called on all Arab countries to work together in order to invest Arab funds in the Arab country and not outside it for the benefit of the peoples of these countries and their economies.

Tawfik revealed that the Jordanian private sector views Egypt as a very important trade partner in various economic fields and not only as a market for importing and exporting products. He stressed that the Jordan Chamber of Commerce seeks to strengthen relations with all Arab countries, especially Egypt, by importing various commodities, especially food ones.

For his part, His Excellency the Egyptian Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade considered that Egypt and Jordan have old and great economic relations, indicating that trade exchange between the two countries has achieved great progress in recent years. He stressed that the two parties are working together to enhance this cooperation and integration in various fields to raise it to broader and more comprehensive levels and horizons.

He added that there is no doubt about the need to strengthen cooperation to achieve stability and strengthen the Egyptian and Jordanian economies in various fields, stressing that supporting the stability and strengthening of the Egyptian and Jordanian economies is the stability and strengthening of the economies of all Arab countries.

Minister Al-Khatib pointed out that Egypt is the gateway to the Horn of Africa and has trade and economic relations with all Arab and African countries, and therefore work must be done to promote the Egyptian product in all countries of the Arab world.
