German-Libyan Economic Forum 2025 to be held in Tripoli

The Libyan city of Tripoli will host the work of the Fourth German-Libyan Economic Forum, on 12/5/205, with the participation of a delegation from the General Secretariat of the Union of Arab Chambers headed by the Secretary-General of the Union, Dr. Khaled Hanafy, in addition to the presence of a group of officials and businessmen from both countries, with the aim of enhancing economic cooperation and expanding areas of joint investment.

The opening session will be addressed by Mohammed Al-Raed, President of the General Federation of Libyan Chambers of Commerce, Olaf Hoffmann, President of the Arab-German Chamber of Commerce, Ambassador Jamal Ali Al-Barq, Ambassador of Libya to Germany, and Ambassador Ralph-Josef Traf, Ambassador of Germany to Libya.

The forum includes four main discussion sessions covering the most prominent sectors of common interest: energy (electricity, renewable energies, oil and gas), logistics, transport and infrastructure, health and education, and the financial and legal framework for doing business in Libya.

The forum will also include bilateral meetings between representatives of companies of prominent institutions such as the National Oil Corporation, the General Electricity Company, the Libyan Renewable Energy Authority, and the Libyan Ministries of Health and Education.

This forum is a pivotal platform to strengthen strategic partnerships between Libya and Germany, advance sustainable development in Libya by exchanging experiences and knowledge, and attract investments in various vital sectors.

In parallel with the Fourth German-Libyan Economic Forum, the Libyan capital, Tripoli, will host on May 13 and 14, 2025, a workshop to support the Federation of Libyan Chambers of Commerce and the Chambers of Tripoli, Misrata, and Benghazi.

The workshop, which will be held at the headquarters of the General Federation of Libyan Chambers of Commerce in Tripoli, will witness the presence of prominent figures, including Abdul Aziz Al-Mikhlafi, Secretary-General of the Arab-German Chamber of Commerce, Mohammed Al-Raed, President of the General Federation of Libyan Chambers of Commerce, Olaf Hoffmann, President of the Arab-German Chamber of Commerce, German Ambassador to Libya Ralph Traf, Anwar Salem Abu Sitta, President of the Tripoli Chamber, and Dr. Khaled Hanafy, Secretary-General of the Union of Arab Chambers.

The workshop focuses on reviewing the reality of the German economy, the roles of the chambers of commerce and industry in Germany and Austria, and the role of the chambers as representatives before the Libyan authorities. The workshop also aims to enhance the capabilities of the Libyan chambers, support their efforts in economic and social development, and stimulate regional and international cooperation in line with modern developments.
