The Central Bank of Egypt revealed that the deficit in the current account in Egypt increased to $ 11.1 billion in the period from July 2024 to December 2024, compared to $ 9.6 billion in the same period of the previous year.
The bank attributed the widening deficit in the first half of the 2024-2025 fiscal year to a rising trade deficit, which jumped 47.4 percent to $27.5 billion.
According to the central bank, Suez Canal revenues fell 62.3 percent to $1.8 billion in the period from $4.8 billion a year earlier.
