Gold prices retreat after record high as Trump grants tariff exemptions

Gold prices retreated on Monday after hitting a record high earlier in the session as trade tensions eased after US President Donald Trump announced that smartphones and computers would be exempt from US tariffs.

Spot gold fell 0.1 percent to $3,232.45 per ounce, after hitting a record high of $3,245.42 per ounce. Meanwhile, US gold futures rose 0.1 percent to $3,248.20 per ounce.
