China's 84 percent tariffs on U.S. products have come into effect, marking a new phase in Washington's trade war and raising fears of a global economic recession.
The new tariffs will apply to all U.S. products entering China, worth about $143.5 billion in 2024, according to the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative.
The Office of the State Council Tariff Commission announced that tariffs on US goods will rise from 34 percent to 84 percent from April 10.
