The Egyptian Cabinet approved the draft budget for the new fiscal year 2025-2026, and referred it to the House of Representatives.
Revenues in the new budget are estimated at 3.1 trillion pounds ($61 billion) at an annual growth rate of 19 percent, and expenses reach 4.6 trillion pounds ($91.1 billion), up 18 percent, with an expected deficit of 1.5 trillion pounds ($29.6 billion).
According to data from the Egyptian Ministry of Planning, the growth rate of the Egyptian economy rose significantly to 4.3 percent during the second quarter of the fiscal year 2024-2025, compared to a rate of 2.3 percent in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal year 2023-2024.
