German Federal Parliament (Bundestag) will vote on Tuesday on a €500 billion spending package to revive infrastructure, move forward with climate initiatives, and boost defense capabilities.
The proposal, which is backed by parliamentary blocs of the conservative Christian Alliance, the Social Democrats, and the Greens, includes raising borrowing limits to create a special fund for infrastructure and climate protection, as well as removing debt restrictions on defense, civil protection, intelligence services, and cybersecurity.
Approval of the package requires a two-thirds majority in the Bundestag, a constitutional threshold necessary to ease Germany's strict borrowing laws.
