The Statistical Center of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf estimated the size of the workforce in the six Gulf Cooperation Council countries at about 32 million workers, of whom Gulf nationals constitute less than 18 percent. While the number of foreign workers in the Council countries exceeds 26 million workers.
The center indicated in its report that the total size of the workforce in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, according to data for the year 2022, amounted to 31.8 million workers, constituting 54.2 percent of the total population in the Council countries, with 78.7 percent males and 21.3 percent females.
The workforce of GCC citizens reached 5.6 million workers, constituting 17.6 percent of the total workforce in the GCC, with 60 percent males and 40 percent females, as the number of working Gulf women increased by 600,000 workers since 2011.
