Saudi Bank Deposits Grow 9% to $728 Billion

Total deposits in Saudi commercial banks increased by 9% at the end of January to reach 2.73 trillion riyals ($728 billion), compared to the same period last year at 2.5 trillion riyals ($666 billion).

According to the monthly statistical bulletin of the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA), total deposits increased by 1.5% on a monthly basis, reaching 2.69 trillion riyals ($716 billion) in December. The ratio of banks’ claims on the private sector to total deposits rose in January to 106.1%, the highest level ever. While the ratio of loans to deposits increased from 80.05% in January last year to 82.78% in the same month of this year.
