The Secretary-General of the Union of Arab Chambers, in Dubai - United Arab Emirates, discussed with the Chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), Mr. REN HONGBIN, at the head of a delegation from the Council, and in the presence of the Head of the Investment and Technology Promotion Office of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), Dr. Hashem Hussein, and the President of the Arab-Chinese Association for Cooperation and Development (ACCDA), Qassim Al-Tufayli, the 11th session of the Arab-Chinese Business Conference and the 9th edition of the Arab-Chinese Investment Conference, scheduled to be held in the Chinese city of HAINAN during the period April 27-29, 2025. Organized by the Union of Arab Chambers, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), the League of Arab States, and the Youth Government of Hainan Province, China. The two sides called for the need to work on the success of the events scheduled to be held in the coming period, in a way that serves the common aspirations towards developing trade, economic and investment cooperation between the Arab and Chinese sides.
During the meeting, it was agreed to hold an Arab-Chinese meeting within the framework of the Arab-Chinese Chamber, in the last quarter of the current year 2025 in one of the Arab countries.
During the meeting, emphasis was placed on the importance of constructive cooperation between the Federation of Arab Chambers and the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, in order to develop Arab-Chinese economic relations and raise them from the level of traditional trade based on import and export, to the level of strategic partnerships based on technology transfer and benefiting from human energies, through the establishment of major technology zones in Arab countries.
It was also emphasized that investments in artificial intelligence are of great importance through the use of human energies and resources to build artificial intelligence models, which is what Arab countries with large populations can offer, in addition to integrating Arab countries with high financial surpluses into investment in technology zones, thus contributing to achieving mutual benefits, and making Arab regions a focal point that enables access to African and Asian markets and thus contributing to the establishment of new logistical corridors and routes.
The Secretary-General of the Union of Arab Chambers stressed that “China and the Arab countries are important to each other, and therefore we, as Arab countries, must take advantage of the available opportunities to raise the level of Arab-Chinese cooperation to broader and more comprehensive horizons, especially in terms of establishing joint logistics zones between the Arab and Chinese sides. Especially since what is happening in China today is a huge and tremendous development in all Chinese provinces, not limited provinces or regions such as the capital, Beijing, Guangzhou, Shanghai, Shenzhen, etc.”
He added: “We, as Arab countries, can benefit from this transformation by entering into a strategic partnership with China, as China has moved from the stage of local economic development to the stage of external economic expansion through the huge projects it is implementing within the framework of the “Belt and Silk Road” initiative, which is involved in creating great opportunities in the subject of value chains, which are considered more than necessary in light of this changing world.”
He pointed out that "to keep pace with the development taking place in China, and for us as Arab countries to be true partners, we must first develop a guiding map that leads us towards developing a vision and then developing an applicable mechanism. In this area, we need greater openness from the Chinese side to the Arab markets, especially since China needs to recycle its frozen wealth in the United States of America, which is considered enormous, by participating in reconstruction projects in conflict and war zones."
For his part, the Chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), Mr. REN HONGBIN, stressed the “great role that the private sector can play in enhancing Arab-Chinese economic relations.” Pointing out that "there are great and huge potentials to open the way for the private sector from both sides to implement huge strategic projects, especially since the ruling party in China encourages the Chinese private sector to establish partnerships with its counterparts abroad, especially the Arab private sector. Therefore, in light of this reality, it is necessary to exploit the available opportunities, which are great and huge."
He pointed out the importance of opening the way for Arab companies to increase their presence in China and establish partnerships and investments in various parts of China and in all vital and strategic sectors.
