Banking Assets in Qatar Jump 4 Percent by the End of 2024

The assets of commercial banks operating in Qatar at the end of December rose by more than 4 percent annually to 2.05 trillion riyals ($549.4 billion).

According to Qatar Central Bank data, total assets grew 18 percent month-on-month, with an increase of about 16 billion riyals from November. Domestic assets increased by 3.17 percent, while foreign assets grew by 6.17 percent. However, banks' international reserves fell by more than 6 percent by the end of 2024.

Commercial bank deposits rose 4.13 percent to 1.03 trillion riyals, year-on-year. Private sector deposits rose 1.16 percent to 469.70 billion riyals, and public sector deposits rose 4.19 percent to 357 billion riyals, year-on-year.
