The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has estimated that $500 million a year will be needed for agriculture projects in the region to establish the basic system for sustaining food production in 22 countries in the region.
FAO Assistant Director-General Abdul Hakim Al-Waer pointed out that conflicts and wars in different parts of the world are on food prices. He pointed out that the Russian-Ukrainian war affects shipping in the Black Sea, as well as the war in the Middle East affects navigation in the Red Sea, the Suez Canal, and the Gulf of Aden, which affected the ability of countries to maintain food security.
Al-Waer believes that there are direct negative effects on all countries, especially in the Arab region, in terms of providing the necessary food supplies and increasing insurance prices.
