Tunisia's Economy Grows by 1.8% in 3 Months.. Tourism by 8.6%

Tunisia's economy grew by 1.8% in the third quarter of 2024 year-on-year, while the increase in tourists exceeded 8.6% in 10 months. According to data from the National Institute of Statistics, Tunisia's economy grew by 1% compared to the second quarter of this year. Preliminary estimates indicate that economic activity recorded a growth in the size of GDP by 1.8%, and according to the Institute, after the failure of agricultural production during the past years as a result of difficult climatic conditions, agricultural activities recorded a significant improvement, as they grew by 10.6% on an annual basis. Growth in the industrial sector reached 1.6%, due to the rise of agricultural and food industries by 3%, chemical industries by 3%, and mechanical and electrical industries by 2.8%.

Prime Minister Kamal al-Medouri expected the growth rate of the local economy to reach 1.6% this year, after the improvement in the performance of the agriculture and tourism sectors during the second half of this year. He said that the growth target for 2025 is to achieve a desired economic recovery, and growth estimates for 2025 include the growth of the economy by 3.2 percent.
