The World Bank expects Tunisia's economy to grow by 1.2 percent in 2024, lower than its previous forecast, due to continued drought and difficult external financing conditions affecting key sectors this year, including agriculture, food processing, and construction.
According to the World Bank, in its Economic Observatory on Tunisia, limited external demand coupled with the stalled implementation of further reforms limit growth prospects. He also predicted that the agricultural sector will witness development in the second half of 2024 and that growth will increase moderately to an average of 2.3 percent in 2025-2026, although the forecast includes important downside prospects, linked to financing conditions, external demand, and drought. The World Bank indicated that the Tunisian economy did not gain momentum in the first half of 2024, as it achieved GDP growth of 0.6 percent year-on-year after 2023, which did not witness any growth.
