Qatar's merchandise trade balance surplus, which represents the difference between total exports and imports, decreased in September by 10.7 percent to 17.7 billion riyals ($4.8 billion) year-on-year compared to the same month last year, and by about 2.08 billion riyals, or 10.5 percent, compared to August.
According to the National Planning Council, the value of Qatar's total exports, which include exports of local origin and re-exports, fell by 5.7 percent to almost 27.6 billion riyals year-on-year, and by 7.9 percent month-on-month.
On the other hand, the value of merchandise imports during the month of September increased by 4.9% to reach about 9.9 billion riyals on an annual basis, a decrease of 2.8%, compared to August.
