ILO Regional Director Ruba Jaradat explained, "The impact of the war in the Gaza Strip has exceeded the loss of life, desperate humanitarian conditions, and material destruction."

The war has fundamentally changed Gaza's socio-economic landscape, while at the same time severely undermining the economy and labor market in the West Bank. The impact will be felt on future generations."

According to the organization's latest data, unemployment in Gaza has jumped to nearly 80 percent since the war broke out as the devastated economy has suffered a near-total collapse. Gaza's economic output has shrunk by 85 percent since the war began, pushing nearly all of its 2.4 million people into poverty.
