UAE Ranks 45th Globally In the Index of Economic Freedom

The UAE ranked 45th globally in the 2024 Economic Freedom Index report, which is issued annually by the Fraser Institute, achieving 7.39 points out of a total of 10 points in the general ranking.

The UAE's position represents progress in the global economic landscape and reflects a commitment to promoting open economic policies and supporting innovation and growth.

The index measures the degree of economic freedom in 165 countries and administrative parts around the world, based on a number of factors including freedom of trade, size of government, protection of property rights, integrity of the legal system, sound monetary policies, and level of government regulation.

Hong Kong, Singapore, and Switzerland topped the list in the top three. Regionally, the UAE is one of the leading countries in the Arab world alongside Bahrain and Qatar. While major countries such as the United States came in fifth place, Japan in eleventh place, Germany in sixteenth place, and some developed countries such as France ranked thirty-sixth, and Italy ranked fifty-first.
