The total assets of commercial banks operating in Qatar jumped 6.84 percent to 2.002 trillion riyals ($549.4 billion) at the end of August, compared to 1.874 trillion riyals in the corresponding month of 2023.
According to the Qatar Central Bank, foreign assets grew by about 13.26 percent annually at 274.05 billion riyals, compared to 241.97 billion riyals in August 2023, although they decreased by about 1.08 percent on a monthly basis. Domestic assets rose by 6.70 percent to 1.649 trillion riyals, compared to 1.546 trillion riyals year-on-year.
On the other hand, international reserves, which include balances with the Qatar Central Bank and cash in riyals, fell last month by about 7.75 percent, at 78.65 billion riyals.
