The war in Gaza has been reflected on Jordan's tourism revenues during the first eight months of this year, as foreign visitors avoided destinations in the Middle East, which is close to places of tension.
Between January and August, the sector's revenues fell 3.7 percent year-on-year to $4.95 billion, due to a 6.7 percent drop in tourist numbers. The data shows that tourism income for all expatriates rose by 5.8 percent and Arabs by 11.5 percent, while foreign visitor revenues declined. According to statistics, the revenues of European tourists decreased by about 53.9 percent, while the decline rate for American visitors was about 39.1 percent and the rest of the markets by 20.1 percent with an annual comparison.
