Oil prices fell on Tuesday after Israel accepted a proposal to reduce differences holding back a ceasefire deal in Gaza, helping to assuage fears of supply disruptions in the Middle East. Brent crude prices fell 12 cents, or $2.02, or 0.15 percent, to $77.54. U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude futures for the nearest maturity month, which expires on Tuesday, were at $74.23 a barrel, down 14 cents, or 0.2 percent. The second-month most active contract in trading fell 15 cents, or 0.2 percent, to $73.52. Brent fell about 2.5 percent on Monday, while West Texas Intermediate crude fell 3 percent.
