Sudan's Central Bureau of Statistics revealed that the inflation rate in the country rose to 136.67 percent in the first half of 2024. This is the first data of its kind to be published since the outbreak of war between the Sudanese army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces in April 2023.

The war has driven more than 8.5 million people from their homes, leading to the world's largest displacement crisis. Much of the population depends on aid, and some five million people suffer from extreme hunger. The last time the agency published the annual inflation rate was in February (February) 2023 when the inflation rate was 63.3 percent.
