Gold Prices Fall Ahead of U.S. Economic Data

Gold prices fell during trading on Thursday, March 14, amid anticipation of the release of important economic data in America. On the price front, gold futures fell 0.3 percent to $2,174.1 an ounce.

Data on retail sales, producer prices, and U.S. jobless claims is due later in the day. U.S. inflation data showed earlier this week that annual inflation accelerated to 3.2 percent in February, higher than expectations of 3.1 percent. The annual and monthly core inflation rates also came in at 3.8 percent and 0.4 percent, respectively, higher than estimates.
