Jordan's Unemployment Map Narrows Slightly

The unemployment rate in Jordan decreased during the last quarter of last year by 1.5 percentage points year-on-year, a decrease of 0.9 percentage points compared to the third quarter of 2023, to record 21.4 percent.

According to the Department of Statistics in its quarterly report, the unemployment rate for males reached 18.9 percent, compared to 29.8 percent for females during the fourth quarter. The unemployment rate was 25.1 percent among university graduates, down 3.2 percentage points from the previous quarter.

56.6 percent of the total unemployed are holders of a secondary school diploma or higher, so the total number of unemployed with educational qualifications below secondary school is 42.8 percent.
