The Egyptian Minister of Finance, Mohamed Maait, revealed that the Egyptian cabinet approved a draft law aimed at merging the state budget with the budgets of 59 economic bodies in Egypt. The move aims to improve the state's fiscal indicators and raise revenues from EGP 2.1 trillion in the current fiscal year's budget to about EGP 4.8 trillion.

Minister Maait explained that the Ministry of Finance is working on the comprehensiveness of the state's general budget, by integrating the budgets of economic bodies into the state's general budget through a new budget called the general government budget. He said: "We aim to work with the government's general budget next fiscal year, and it will include in the first phase the budgets of 40 economic bodies, provided that 19 budgets of other economic bodies will be merged within 5 years."
