Barclays cut its workforce by about 5,000 jobs in 2023 as part of a major cost-cutting campaign announced last year. According to the bank, the majority of the cuts took place in the "Implementation Services", the bank's support unit, showing for the first time that the bank is looking to cut thousands of jobs in this department.

The bank announced the elimination of nearly 5,000 jobs globally in 2023 as part of its current efficiency program, which aims to streamline and reshape business, improve service, and achieve higher returns.
