China's government spending fell at a slower pace in the first nine months of this year as authorities ramped up fiscal stimulus to inject momentum into the economy.
Total spending fell 2.4 percent to 26.43 trillion yuan ($3.6 trillion) in the year to September compared with the same period in 2022, compared with a 4 percent contraction in the first eight months of this year.
This figure combines spending under the general budget, which mainly covers daily expenditures, and expenditure covered by the budget of government funds, which is more geared towards capital investment projects.
