Eurozone Inflation Slowed To 5.2 Percent in August

Data released by the European statistics office "Eurostat" showed that the annual inflation rate in the euro area slowed to 5.2 percent in August, with the highest preliminary estimate of 5.3 percent.

According to Eurostat, the annual inflation rate in the region's 20 countries slowed from 5.3 percent in July. On a monthly basis, inflation rose 0.5 percent in August, versus a 0.1 percent decline in the previous month.

Core inflation, which excludes some items including food and energy, rose 5.3 percent year-on-year and rose 0.3 percent month-on-month.
