Turkish Labor Minister Wedad Isik Han revealed that the minimum wage will be raised to 11,402 liras ($483.43) per month starting from the second half of this year. Revealing a 34 percent increase from the level set last December.
The Minister of Labour explained that "the decision to increase the minimum wage from 8,506 liras to 11,402 liras came with a government agreement with representatives of workers and employers."
The decision will take effect July 1, an increase of up to 34 percent, and an increase of 107 percent compared to the second half of the previous year.
In May, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan pledged to increase government workers' wages in Turkey by 45 percent from July.
