Qatar's GDP Increased by 13.2 percent

The quarterly bulletin issued by the Qatar Central Bank showed an increase in gross domestic product in the first quarter of 2022 by 13.2 percent, to 197.7 billion riyals from 174.7 billion riyals in the fourth quarter of 2021. The mining sector accounted for 42 percent of the output, and the other sectors accounted for 57.4 percent.

The inflation rate decreased slightly to 5.4 percent in the first quarter, from 5.5 percent in the fourth quarter of 2021. Total revenues rose in the first quarter to 65.01 billion riyals, from 51.5 billion riyals in the previous quarter. Total expenditures decreased to 51.4 billion riyals, from 54.8 billion riyals in the previous quarter. Total exports in the first quarter rose to 103.8 billion riyals from 100 billion riyals in the previous quarter. Total imports rose to 28.5 billion riyals, from 27.6 billion riyals in the previous quarter. The total assets of banks (commercial and specialized) increased by about 29.7 billion riyals to 1858.5 billion riyals from 1828.8 billion riyals last May. Assets of Islamic banks rose by about 5.2 billion riyals to 543.2 billion riyals. The assets of conventional banks rose by about 25.9 billion riyals to 1263.6 billion riyals.
