Qatar Central Bank data showed an increase in the assets of commercial banks at the end of February, compared to last January, by about 16.9 billion riyals, to reach the level of 1817.9 billion riyals, an annual increase of 113.3 billion riyals, or 6.65 percent, compared to February 2020, which amounted to 1704.7 billion riyals.
According to the data, the total cash reserves and balances with the Qatar Central Bank rose in February by about 2.4 billion riyals from last January to the level of 95.92 billion riyals, and the balance was at the level of 89.3 billion riyals a year ago, an annual increase of 6.6 billion riyals. The balances of Qatari banks abroad also rose in February by about 0.99 billion riyals to 102.62 billion riyals, compared to 101.6 billion riyals last January, but it was at 89.4 billion riyals a year ago in February 2021.
The balance of cash in foreign currencies stabilized in February, with a slight decrease at 8.82 billion riyals, and it was at 9.27 billion riyals a year ago in February 2021.
