Jordan: A significant Increase in Passenger Traffic at Queen Alia International Airport

Statistics issued by Airport International Group for annual passenger traffic for the year 2021 revealed that Queen Alia International Airport received 4,559,336 passengers, an increase of 122.3 percent, and a decrease of 48.9 percent compared to 2020 and 2019, respectively.

With regard to aircraft movement, the airport recorded 92.4 percent more than those achieved during 2020, and 41.6 percent less compared to 2019, when it reached 46,603 movements.

Air freight traffic reached 58,278 tons, recording an increase of 20.8 percent and a decrease of 43.1 percent compared to 2020 and 2019, respectively. During December, the airport received 469,954 passengers, aircraft movement reached 4,973 movements, while air cargo movement amounted to 5,245 tons, recording a decrease of 28.8%, 18.8%, and 36.7%, respectively, compared to the same month in the year 2019.

The CEO of Airport International Group, Nicolas Claude, confirmed that "the actual total movements recorded in 2021 were as expected, and although some recovery has been observed this year, the numbers of these movements have not yet approached the desired levels. However, we still hope that we and the global air transport sector are on the right track to restore passenger traffic registered before the pandemic spread."
