Nael Al-Kabariti: Establishing Strategic Economic Relations between Jordan and Syria

The President of the Jordan Chamber of Commerce, Nael Kabariti, discussed with the Syrian Minister of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection, Dr. Amr Salem, ways to develop economic cooperation and trade exchange relations between the two brotherly countries. During the meeting, which was held at the headquarters of the Syrian Ministry of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection in the capital, Damascus, the two sides discussed the importance of moving towards establishing commercial partnerships to provide various goods and services in the two countries' markets at competitive prices and high quality.

Kabariti stressed the keenness of the Jordanian commercial and service sector to establish strategic relations and build real partnerships with Syria to achieve common interests. He stressed the need to focus on the sectors of information technology, renewable energy, medical tourism, transit and the use of the port of Aqaba to transport goods to the Syrian market. Pointing to the importance of returning the joint Syrian-Jordanian free zone to work, and facilitating the transit of trucks in both directions, calling for building a partnership regarding tourism promotion and benefiting from the extensive Jordanian expertise in this field.

For his part, Minister Salem stressed the necessity of overcoming the difficulties and obstacles that hinder the means of cooperation between the Jordanian and Syrian sides and providing facilities that develop joint economic work and advance it to advanced stages. He pointed out the importance of cooperation in the communications and information technology sector and benefiting from Jordanian experiences in this field, especially in light of Syria's trend towards "digitization" and electronic billing.
