The Increase in the Qatari Banking System Reserves

Qatar Central Bank data showed that the total reserve money in the banking system increased by the end of November to a level of 108.1 billion riyals, compared to 106.67 billion riyals at the end of last October. Thus, the reserve money constitutes 51.6 percent of the cash reserves of the bank, which in November amounted to about 209.68 billion riyals.

The mandatory reserve rose by the end of November by 0.11 billion riyals to the level of 43.9 billion riyals. Thus, the percentage of the mandatory reserve of reserve money decreased to 40.6 percent, compared to 41.1 percent.

The surplus of reserve balances deposited by banks with the Qatar Central Bank in November rose to 11.5 billion riyals from 10.1 billion riyals in October, while it was a year ago in November 2020 at the level of 8.95 billion riyals. Net foreign assets rose with net domestic assets at the end of November to 108.1 billion riyals from 106.7 billion riyals in October, which is equivalent to reserve money or high-value money.
