Deposits of Kuwaiti Banking Sector Rise by 1.12%

The monthly statistics issued by the Central Bank of Kuwait showed that total deposits in the banking sector increased by 492 million dinars (+1.12 percent) on a monthly basis last August to reach 44.392 billion, while it witnessed a decrease since the beginning of the year 2021 to 883 million (-1.95 percent), thus bringing its decline to 1.08 billion (-2.38 percent) compared to August 2020.

The private sector’s deposits witnessed an increase of about 130 million dinars in August compared to July (+0.35 percent), to reach a total of 37.107 billion, while it recorded a decline of about 225 million dinars (-0.6 percent) since the beginning of 2021 and a decrease of 887 million (-2.33 percent) percent) compared to August 2020.

The private sector’s deposits in dinars witnessed an increase of about 300 million (+0.86 percent), to reach 35.05 billion, while their decline amounted to 222 million (-0.63 percent) compared to the end of last year, it also witnessed a decrease of 791 million (-2.21 percent) on an annual basis, while the total private sector deposits in foreign currencies amounted to about 2.056 billion at the end of August, down by 171 million (-7.68 percent) compared to their level in the previous month, while their decline amounted to 3 million (-0.15%) since the beginning of the year, and its decline reached to 97 million (-4.51 percent) compared to its level in August 2020.
