Bahrain's Budget Deficit Declined by 35%

The Ministry of Finance in Bahrain revealed that the budget deficit reached 520 million dinars ($1.38 billion) in the first half of 2021, representing a decrease of 35 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.

According to the ministry, the value of revenues amounted to 1.119 billion dinars ($2.97 billion) during the first half of 2021, which is an increase of 23 percent compared to the same period last year, thanks to an increase in oil revenues by 33 percent due to the rise in oil prices, while the non-oil revenues rose only 4 percent.

Total general expenses amounted to 1.639 billion dinars in the first half, a decrease of 4% compared to the same period in 2020.

According to the Ministry of Finance, the results also showed a decrease in frequent expenses by 2 percent, compared to the same period last year.
