Kuwait's Trade Balance Declined by 6.89%

The value of the trade surplus of the State of Kuwait decreased by 6.89 percent during the first quarter of this year on an annual basis, according to the bulletin issued by the Central Administration of Statistics.

Kuwait recorded a surplus of its trade balance in the first three months of this year at 1.62 billion dinars (5.39 billion dollars), compared to 1.74 billion dinars (5.79 billion dollars), a surplus during the same period of 2020. The surplus was affected by the growth of Kuwait’s imports in the first quarter of 2021 by 9.78 percent at 2.47 billion dinars, knowing that it was 2.25 billion dinars during the corresponding quarter of the previous year.

China came at the forefront of the countries from which Kuwait imported with a value of 422.20 million dinars, followed by the United Arab Emirates with 329.93 million dinars, and the United States of America with 205.75 million dinars. Regarding Kuwait’s exports, it amounted to 3.76 billion dinars, compared to 3.61 billion dinars in the first quarter of 2020, with an annual growth of 4.16 percent.

The UAE topped the list in importing Kuwaiti non-oil products, followed by Saudi Arabia in second place, and then India in third place.
