Kuwait ranked 4th in the Arab World and 129 globally in the “Fragile States Index” issued by The Fund of Peace, placing Kuwait among the stable countries category with 52.9 points.
The Fragile States Index, which ranks 179 countries from least to highest fragility, is based on the various stresses they face and affect their levels of fragility. For each indicator, the ratings were assigned on a scale of 0 to 10, with 0 being (most stable) and 10 (least stable), for a total score of 12 indicators on a scale of 0-120.
The UAE, which ranked 151st globally, Qatar 144th, and Oman 136th, are among the best Arab countries politically, economically and socially. By contrast, Syria, Somalia, and Yemen ranked among the world's most fragile states. Globally, Finland, Norway, Iceland, New Zealand, Denmark and Switzerland are among the best and most stable countries in the world.
The classification criteria are based on social, economic and political indicators such as demographic pressures, massive movement of refugees and displaced persons, revenge, brain drain, unbalanced economic development, economic decline, criminalization or Delegitimisation of the state, gradual deterioration of public services, widespread abuse of human rights, and security apparatus that emerges as a state within a state, the rise of divided elites, and foreign state interference.
