The UAE ranked first in the Arab world and 31st in the world in the ranking of countries that are friendly to emerging companies issued by the "CIO World" magazine, which is an annual assessment of the competitiveness of countries and their capabilities in an economy based on science and technology.
The UAE scored 62 points on the general index, outperforming Greece, Norway, New Zealand and Indonesia. While the United States ranked first in the world, followed by the United Kingdom in the second place, and Canada in the third.
The classification is based on five criteria in measuring countries' competitiveness capabilities, which are investment in human capital, research and development, entrepreneurship infrastructure, technical workforce and political dynamics.
The UAE scored 62 points in the entrepreneurship infrastructure standard, which determines the success rate of converting scientific research into commercially viable products and services. It also achieved 58 points in research and development that examines the country's capabilities in research and development and the extent of the existence of facilities that attract financing and create innovations that can be marketed and that contribute to economic growth. While it scored 57 points in the technical workforce, a benchmark that measures the relative number of technical and scientific talents. UAE also scored 54 points in the two criteria for investment in human capital and political dynamics, which measure the extent of developing and caring for the workforce in the future and the effectiveness of policies that attract investments and assets.
