Qatari Banks’ Assets Are Up by 9%

The monthly bulletin issued by the Qatar Central Bank showed that banks’ assets increased by 10.4 billion riyals in February 2021 compared to last January, and by 139.4 billion from February 2020, to reach 1717.7 billion riyals by the end of February 2021, representing an increase of about 9 percent.

The report also showed a decrease in the assets of traditional banks in February 2021 from last January by 7 billion to 1198.2 billion riyals, but an annual increase of 96.9 billion riyals compared to February 2020. In contrast, the assets of Islamic banks increased by 17.8 billion riyals compared to last January to 467 billion riyals, which was 37.9 billion riyals higher than February 2020.

The assets of the specialized banks slightly decreased compared to January to 13.07 billion riyals, an increase of slightly less than one billion riyals compared to February 2020. The assets of Arab and foreign banks also decreased compared to December by about 0.3 billion riyals to 39.5 billion riyals, but they increased by about 3.7 billion riyals from February 2020. With regard to credit facilities for banks, they increased by 9.4 billion riyals in February 2021 compared to last January, and by 82 billion riyals compared to February 2020, to reach 1163.5 billion riyals.
