The number of guests that Emirates hotels received during the year 2019 reached about 26.5 million visitors, compared to 25.55 million visitors during the year 2018, i.e. a growth of approximately 4%.

The total revenue of hotel establishments in the Emirates during the past year, according to preliminary estimates, amounted to about 31 billion dirhams, compared to 31.3 billion dirhams in 2018.

The UAE has world-class hotel facilities that compete with the most prestigious tourism economies, which qualifies the sector to quickly restore momentum once the atmosphere is opened to tourists. International visitors and tourists constitute approximately 84% of the total hotel guests in the Emirates with about 21.5 million visitors, and the rest from the local market.

The tourism sector in Dubai received more than 16.73 million international tourists for one night during the year 2019, with a growth of 5.1%, compared to 15.92 million international visitors during the year 2018. Hotel occupancy rates maintained high levels, reaching about 75% in 2019, compared to 76% in 2018, with the entry of a number of new hotel units.

The data shows the explosive growth in the number of visitors through the 6 largest markets of Dubai, namely: India, Saudi Arabia, the United Kingdom, Sultanate of Oman, China and Russia, which all exported more than 7 million visitors in 2019, and 9 countries out of the ten major markets achieved important results for the first time, as they each exported more than half a million visitors, and this indicates the diversity of the Dubai visitor base.
